Treks / Nanga Parbat  Fairy Meadows / Rakaposhi Base Camp & Batura

treks Description

Geologically speaking Nanga Parbat is the westernmost peak of the Himalayas, because it is in Pakistan and relatively close to the Karakorams it tends to be considered with them, but any one who has seen this magnificent peak, with its  great walls of ice towering above the Indus, will agree that Nanga Parbat is unique and should perhaps be considered along. The view from the Indus Valley along the road to Gilgit is that usually seen by visitors, but the mountain slopes are even steeper on all its other sides, and the 16,000 ft. precipice on the south flank, facing Kashmir, is an awe-inspiring sight. These faces, to steep for either vegetation or snow to take hold, give the peak its name of the Bare Mountain, though 20th century climbers know it as Killer Mountain because of the number of lives it has claimed with its violent and unpredictable storms. Atleast 45 modern day climbers have died on Nanga Parbat, more than any other important peak.
Such sombre considerations apart, however, Nanga Parbat can provide us with some excellent trekking. The approach to the mountain is through delightful Alpine country, with pine forests and grassy meadows filled with flowers. The mountains views, even from a relatively low altitude, are magnificent. The itinerary includes several spare days, and these can be used for relaxation or for exploration of the glacial region above the Fairy Meadows; there is also the possibility of climbing Julipar Peak at over 17,000 ft. on one of the spare days.

This spectacular trekking program is an ideal combination of adventure and culture giving you an opportunity to observe the life style of various tribes residing under the shadow of the snow covered mountains. This awe-inspiring trip takes you to the enchanting valleys of Hunza and Nagar in Karakoram Range. Travel over the famous Karakoram Highway, the eighth wonder of the world, along with the mighty Indus River, visiting the picturesque Hunza and Nagar valley shadows by the high snow covered peaks. Drive all the way up to Khunjrab pass 4733 meters at the Pakistan - china border. The most exciting and scenic trek starts at the beautiful village Minapin in the Nagar valley that takes you to the most scenic Base camps of Rakaposhi 7788 meters and Diran peak 7265 meters. This lush green Meadow with high altitude pine and birch forest offers the most impressive view of these majestic peaks. Explore the Hunza valley, visit the 700 years old Baltit and Altit Forts, old villages and traditional houses of Altit and the 800 years old wooden Mosques and watching towers at Ganesh, the 4th century Ad Rock Carvings on the ancient Silk Road. A short jeep drive to the Duiker meadow offers the unforgettable panoramic sunrise and sunset view of the Rakaposhi, Diran peak, Golden peak and Ultar group of Peaks.
Located in the west of KKH and north of Passu, this 56 Kilometers  long Batura glaciers offers a finest trek with a great experience of cultural, geographical and local heritage.
